Human Growth and Development I
In this course, the stages of human development (cognitive, emotional, and physical) were researched and discussed. This course examined qualitative and quantitative research. The primary focus, however, was on qualitative research. Students researched and prepared a qualitative classroom research proposal. The primary focus of my research was mathematical writing with recent arrival English language learners.

Multicultural Teaching and Learning
Course participants developed a greater understanding of education in a multicultural classroom. Culturally sensitive and responsive pedagogy was researched, discussed, and prepared.

Language Acquisition and Development
This course examines the factors (cognitive, emotional, social) affecting second language acquisition. Students researched and developed linguistically appropriate instruction for English language learners. Additionally, the course provided an overview of significant court and legislative decisions impacting Bilingual and ESL education in the United States. The focus of my research was an examination of the impact of the 'Response Through Intervention' (RTI) and Special Education pre-referral processes on English language learners.

Bilingual Education Principles and Practices
This course examined the history of judicial and legislative decisions impacting Bilingual and ESL education in the United States. The primary focus of my research was the impact of Sheltered English Instruction on English language learners.
In this course, I utilized skills acquired in EDTC courses to create a Prezi illustrating the history of legislation impacting bilingual and ESL education in the US. The Prezi is avalaible here.
Additionally, I created a Prezi illustrating the history of US and Texas bilingual law from 1989 to 1999 here.

Research Seminar Education
In this course, students examined different types of educational research and became familiar with the methodologies and potential weaknesses and limitations of each. The primary focus was on various types of quantitative research. The primary focus of my research an evaluation and critique of research findings comparing and contrasting the effects of Bilingual and Sheltered English programs.
